The term 'Pending' in SIRAS can have different meanings.

  • The SIRAS active status = pending
  • The SIRAS archive report status = pending
  • The pending Plan Type 300
  • The 'pending as of' MEET record for 16.21 report
  • An initial evaluation is 'pending'
  • A plan review or evaluation is 'pending'
  • Student is eligible and 'pending' services.

The active status = pending

The SIRAS archive report status = pending

The report status of a SIRAS archived transaction is set to pending indicating the transaction will be reported to CALPADS the next time data is sent to CALPADS and the date of the transaction is today or earlier.

Pending Plan Type - Plan Type 300

This used to be a plan type up until Fall 2023 when CALPADS went live with the SWDS model of reporting SPED data.

This was replaced by pending as of (see below).

The 'pending as of' MEET record for 16.21 report

This transaction must have an pending as of date that is on or prior to current census date.

This transaction is the 'pending' record.

There are two types of 'Pending As Of' for 16.21 reasons.

  1. Initial Evaluations
  2. Plan Review or Re-evaluations

1. Initial Evaluation Pending Records (Formerly plan type 300 for child find)

This allows a district to report parental consent for assessment, follow thru of child find.

This is helpful for CALPADS reporting when consent is before a census but the meeting will be after census.

This archive can be used to report a meeting delay reason ahead of time why the 60 day or third birthday timeline was missed.

In SIRAS 'pending as of' (parental consent) transactions can be created as soon as an SSID is present and the parental consent for assessment date is received.  This archive must be created AND reported prior to the meeting date.  Once the meeting date passes, the ability to easily report this type of transaction ends.  Be mindful if the initial evaluation date becomes more than 60 days from the parental consent date. If so this pending as of MEET record can be used to report a meeting delay reason when a 'pending' if needed.

2. Plan Review and Re-evaluation Pending Records

When timeline indicates this record is overdue as of the current census date.

The pending as of date represents the date that the meeting was planned and this date has to be prior to the current census date.

A meeting is pending, an initial evaluation.

Someone is referring to an upcoming evaluation.

In this case, the active status of the SIRAS record should still be pending.

Does the student have an SSID? If not one is required upon parental consent for assessment.

A meeting is pending, a plan review or re-evaluation

Student is eligible for participation, but hasn't started yet.

  • Student is eligible already upon arrival district enrollment date
  • Student is determined eligible after arrival district enrollment date

Once the student starts participating, we can change the active status to active.
