Reporting in SIRAS is a bit vague on the surface.
- We can talk about literally reporting CALPADS, TOMS or DRDP stata.
- We can talk about making progress reports.
- We can talk about making custom reports on all sorts of data types.
When we are reporting on something, we are reporting on Data.
There are many data types of data. See Data Types in SIRAS below.
So in order to understand reporting, we must first understand what data we want to report.
When IEP teams work with students and track that in SIRAS.
Let's say that 'work' is assessing students being referred with initial evaluations.
Or the 'work' of follow up annual plan reviews or triennial re-evaluations being completed and finalized.
This 'work' in the field results in the generation of SWDS, MEET, PLAN and SERV aka, 'SPED' records that need to be reported to CALPADS.
This is how CDE knows if districts are staying compliant with their timelines.
If we want to send the standard SPED data SIRAS makes to CALPADS.
We would see reporting data to CALPADS.
If we want to send the CAASPP and ELPAC data to TOMS.
We can look at the batch export method.
We can look at using the TOMS API method.
If SELPA wants to send DRDP data to DRACCESS.org we can look at that method here.
If we want to report on some data point existing in student records.
Ex. How many students have a specific primary disability?
We would use /reporting/statistical reports/predefined reports.
Ex. How many initials, triennials or annuals were done given an academic year?
We would use /reporting/meeting reports/predefined reports.

Reporting scenarios
- Initial Evaluation Reporting
- Annual Plan Review Reporting
- Triennial Re-evaluation Reporting
- Amendment Reporting
SIRAS IEP meeting event types vs CALPADS files
Initial Evaluation:
- Minimally can report establishment of new SWDS, MEET if no eligibility or eligible no plan
- Or can report SWDS, MEET, PLAN, and SERV if participating
Annual Plan Review
- Will report MEET and PLAN with plan agreement, otherwise MEET Only
Triennial Reevaluation
- Can report change of SWDS, MEET and PLAN/SERV if plan agreed to.
30 Day Review
- If done as plan adoption, only PLAN/SERV are reported with agreement, no files reported with stay put.
- If done as plan review, will report MEET, PLAN/SERV if plan agreed to. Stay put reports only MEET.
Other Review
- Will never report a MEET, always reported as new PLAN/SERV only if plan agreed to.
- This is why we can’t change eligibility in an Other Review, staff must choose Triennial meeting event type in IEP manager if Eligibility will be discussed.
