Reset a User's Password or Reactivate a Blocked Account
This procedure is for a District SPED Clerk or another administrator authorized to manage SIRAS user accounts.
For a user who can complete self-service reset, send Change or Reset Your Own SIRAS Password.
A District SPED Clerk may need to reset an account that has not been used for more than six months or is blocked because of inactivity.

Before Resetting the Account
- Confirm that the user is signing in to the correct SIRAS server.
- Confirm the username and identity of the person requesting assistance.
- Ask whether the user attempted Email Password Reset.
- Review the email address stored in the account.
- Confirm that your role permits user-account management.

Select the User Account
- Go to Tools → Manage Users / My Account.
- Select Choose User.
- Locate and select the user whose account must be reset.
Open Account Details
Select Edit Account Details for the chosen account.
Reset the Password
- Select Reset Password.
- SIRAS resets the account to the temporary default password.
- Review the colored notice banner displayed by SIRAS for the temporary-password information.
- Select the account-update button to save the change when required.
Reactivate an Account Blocked for Inactivity
Open the blocked account through Manage Users and complete the manual account reset. Review the account status and access settings before saving.
After reactivation, have the user sign in and change the temporary password.
Other Account Changes
The same account page may display name, email, phone, assignment, and access information. Change only the information within your authority and verify the user's identity and assignment.

Finish and Communicate the Reset
- Save the user-account changes.
- Tell the user which SIRAS server and username to use.
- Provide the temporary-password information according to local procedure.
- Direct the user to change the temporary password after signing in.
- Confirm that the user can access the correct module, school, district, or assigned students.
