10/8/2025 Update
SIRAS has completed batch editing most recent archives for the HS districts.
The next time you send data those archives should resolve the majority of those errors!!
You are welcome!!
BTW, if they are not all resolved on the error report the day after you send the data, let me know so we can review.
What SIRAS is doing:
If a plan being sent prior to the post secondary transition indicators being collected during the Annual when the student turns 15.
Then assuming the post secondary indicators are all blank, SIRAS is no longer reporting blank data. That is what generates the MISSING DATA errors.
Instead, SIRAS is auto reporting N as CDE indicated so that the missing indicators will no longer generate the PLAN0390-PLAN0397 errors.
This is not a compliance issue, this is a ( in Brian's opinion unecessary) missing data error.
Then as long as the post secondary indicators are filled in at the next Annual, as they are required for it, all will be well and compliant by EOY1
See screenshot of the context of the data fix at bottom of page.
If you only have a couple of them! How to Resolve:
- Look in CALPADS to find the most recent plan being used for the 10/1/25 snapshot.
- Then find the archive in SIRAS that sent it.
- Then set that archive to PLAN only and send it again.
- As long as you see all the N values in the PLAN box, it will work.
- This is assuming the PLAN errors are related to blank TRAN REG info in the existing plan in CALPADS.
CONTEXT
As of Fall 1 2025, HS students who are 15 now but will be 16 by 6/30/2026 have PLAN0390 - PLAN0397 errors.
These errors are because staff won't be completing the post secondary transition survey questions until later this year.
In the meantime those records where the most recent plan in CALPADS has no information, for reasons beyond us, CALPADS has decided to make those records have errors simply because the most recent plan information in CALPADS is blank.
This is forcing SEDS staff across the state to manually fill in the TRAN_REG 1-8 fields in CALPADS with something other than blank, like N since the survey has not been done yet.
In response to this SIRAS has implemented a mechanism where when a record represents a student who is 14 or 15 and the transition survey questions are still 'blank' because they have not been turned in, SIRAS will no longer report blank information but will report N to satisfy the CALPADS error validation of not allowing blank information.
What do we do about any errors that are left over in CALPADS now?
Have they been completed by an IEP event and the plan effective date of that event is prior to 10/2/2025?
Then that archive with the data filled out will resolve once sent.
Was the plan effective date on 10/2/2025 or later? Then no, that archive will not resolve as it won't be part of your Fall 1 snapshot.
All we need to do is get rid of the most recent plan in CALPADS that has BLANK informatiion and replace with something, either Y, or N.
It hasn't been filled out yet, then do this:
For each student SSID that has a the PLAN0390-PLAN0397 error in CALPADS now, staff can open the most recent archived transaction in SIRAS.
Set the report status to "PLAN Only", click validate and save.
Then send more data. (see screenshot below of 'most recent archived transaction')
That is is, just re-send the most recent plan, it will be compliant and remove the error from CALPADS.
Keep in mind the HS staff will still need to do the post secondary surveys in the annual this year.
When they do, then the filler data of N instead of <blank> will no longer be relevant once the new updated plan is in place for EOY4 2026.
As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to [email protected]
