The SIRAS Admin area is a collection of tools for District administrators to enter data and configuration.

Entering Calendar Events
These events should be updated at the end of every school year.
- All events will be displayed on the Calendar
- Both types of holiday/break will reduce the expected minutes on the Service Log Minutes Report
- Siras does not automatically distinguish between holidays/breaks fewer or greater than 5 school days and depends on the correct type being selected. For both types, the Start/End Date should be the first and last calendar day that students do not attend school.
- Event Type: School Holiday: Long holidays aka school breaks in excess of five consecutive school days (for example, Summer Break, Winter Break).
- This category will postpone IEP deadlines.
- Event Type: Holiday 5 school days or less: Holidays of five or fewer consecutive school days during the school year (for example, staff development days, Veteran's Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving week).
- Event Type: Progress Report Date: will provide suggested dates for the Progress Report development area. Only start date is relevant. If dates are defined at the school level they will override any defined at the district level for attending students.
Why Enter District Holidays?
When “Holiday” type events are entered, it will do two things:
- It will plot the holidays (colored green) in the District Calendar located under Tools menu;
- It will adjust the 60 day evaluation completion count down for an Initial Evaluation and a Triennial, moreover it will adjust the 30 day countdown for an Interim Placement “Review (30 Days)”.
The assessment timeline count down (visible on the Choose Student List right column) will also be adjusted based on your district's holidays that exceeds more than 5 days.
Be sure to enter the first and last calendar days that students do not attend school.
When to enter new holidays?
We suggest not deleting holiday events for at least 2 years and add new ones for the coming year prior to the summer break so they are ready for the fall.
Why create Progress Report date event?
This will add a pop down menu on the Progress Report page so staff can more efficiently enter the progress report dates instead of repeatedly entering the same dates for different student.
When to create new Progress Report dates?
We suggest updating Progress report dates just before Summer Rollover. If staff are late to enter progress reports at the end of the year and they happen to only see future dates, they can always manually fix the date in the progress report itself to correct.
How to create Holiday Event:
- Go to /Tools/SIRAS Admin
- Select Calendar Events
- Click the “Create new Calendar Event” button at the bottom.
- In the Event Type, pick the appropriate event type.
- In the ‘Description’ header add more detail.
- Enter the ‘Start Date’ and ‘End Date’;
- Events will save automatically.
- You do not need to do anything to save the events.
Note: You can enter in all district wide holidays. Only those holidays that exceed 5 school days will adjust the 60 day assessment count down.
How to create Progress Report date event:
- Under the Tools menu select the ‘SIRAS Admin’.
- Click the “Create New Calendar” button
- This will open a new row. It may materialize in the middle, but it will noted as ‘New Event’ – ‘Please select one’
- Enter in the ‘Start Date’ the date of the Progress Report (which is the date that the general ed students have their report cards sent)
- We suggest under the ‘Description’ column replace ‘Date’ with the quarter.
Newly created events auto populate today’s date and sort according to Start Date.
Note: If a school has different report dates than the rest of the district, drill down to that school by clicking the little school house (located in the upper left corner) and entering the progress report dates there. The school progress report dates will supersede the district progress report dates.
This is what users will see on their Progress Reports if the progress report dates are entered as a calendar event.
