IEE or an Independent Educational Evaluation are sometimes requested by the family after the outcome of an Initial Evaluation.
If this happens, we do not keep the original Initial Evaluation open in SIRAS, we finalize it as is.
The parent response would be one of two reasons.
- Parents does not accept Eligibility
or
- Parents does not accept plan (initial only)
Once the appropriate reason is selected the meeting can be closed.
Be sure all relevant notes, contact attempts and context are added into the notes or uploaded to the meeting before finalizing.
If there is going to be an I.E.E. Independent Educational Evaluation, then another Initial Evaluation would be created in SIRAS to document that process.
The IEE can be done in SIRAS by opening another Initial Evaluation.
Or if the IEE is done outside of SIRAS, an Initial Evaluation in SIRAS can be opened to document the process and the findings.
But we need to make sure the meeting type is Initial Evaluation so we can use SIRAS to report the final outcome.
This meeting event can be updated with any relevant documentation.
If eligibility is determined, the forms of the Initial IEP can be updated accordingly prior to finalizing the meeting.
If there is not going to be another assessment, the question comes up on what dates to use for referral date and assessment plan sent/received dates.
The referral date can be the date it was learned the IEE was going to be requested.
The parental consent date can be the date the parents accepted moving forward with the IEE.
