IEE or an Independent Educational Evaluation are sometimes requested by the family after the outcome of an Initial Evaluation or even a triennial re-evaluation.
If this happens, we do not keep the original Initial Evaluation or Triennial open in SIRAS, we finalize it as is.
The parent response would be one of two reasons.
- Parents does not accept Eligibility
or
- Parents does not accept plan (initial only)
Once the appropriate reason is selected the meeting can be closed.
Be sure all relevant notes, contact attempts and context are added into the notes or uploaded to the meeting before finalizing.
If there is going to be an I.E.E. Independent Educational Evaluation, then another Initial Evaluation or Triennial would be created in SIRAS to document the results of that process.
The IEE can be done by using SIRAS by opening another Initial Evaluation or Triennial as usual with the IEE staff participating ther.
Or if the IEE is done outside of SIRAS, an Initial Evaluation or Triennial in SIRAS can be opened to document the process and the findings as well as upload PDF documentation associated with the IEE.
But we should make sure the meeting type is Initial Evaluation or Triennial so we can use SIRAS to report the final outcome.
By using those meeting types, it allows the District to easily report an accepted change of eligibility, and the MEET and or SWDS records to CALPADS easily.
This meeting event can be updated with any relevant documentation.
If eligibility is determined/changed, the forms of the Initial/Triennial IEP can be updated accordingly prior to finalizing the meeting.
If this is for an Initial IEP event created in the IEP manager to document the IEE, and there wasn't a new AP sent out, what do we use for updated Referral information on the MIS page?
- The referral date can be the date it was learned the IEE was going to be requested.
- The parental consent date can be the date the parents accepted moving forward with the IEE.
- The initial evaluation can be the meeting date of the IEE.
