Preface

SIRAS is a web-based student database and meeting-driven IEP, IFSP, 504 Plan and SST tracking system.

The User Guide is a resource for users to assist with any difficulties that the user may encounter while navigating through SIRAS. Click on a link in the Table of Contents to navigate to the topic of interest. Additional resources are available on our Support page. Blue question marks located throughout the SIRAS program will provide support within the context of the page you are on. If a user requires further assistance, please contact Support by email at support@sirassystems.com or call 1 (844) 33-SIRAS.

Training is available district or school wide. The trainings are as follows:  SIRAS Beginner’s General User Level 1, SIRAS Beginner’s General User Level 2, SIRAS Admin/CALPADS Staff workshop; and SIRAS Advance/Refresher (used after the first year, for trainer of trainers). For details and to arrange a workshop, contact Steve Ormbrek at steve@sirassystems.com or call (805) 685-4657.

About Siras Systems

SIRAS is a proud sponsor of the California SELPA Association!

SIRAS was honored to be invited to the White House as a part of our commitment to the Joining Forces Project pledged to Military Children with Disabilities.

SIRAS Systems has been developing software for educators since the early 2000s, and the current version of our flagship program SIRAS, or (State) SELPA Information Records and Analysis Support system, represents the evolution of years of iteration and design on a modern web-based platform. See who uses SIRAS now!

SIRAS has continually been praised for its extensive powerful capabilities, and ease of use with ability to guide the user intuitively while ensuring compliance.  Notable features include:

  • Visually accurate, data-mapped, and customizable forms
  • Once a meeting is selected, SIRAS will generate the forms that are either required or optional for that student based on the student's age, grade, EL Status, Disability and meeting purpose selected.
  • English to Spanish translation
  • Meetings scheduling and followup
  • IEP goals development wizard
  • Secure Link generation for sending forms to parents or general ed teachers with electronic signature capability
  • Service log tracking for delivery of IEP and related services
  • Customizable forms
  • CALPADS API integration for state reporting
  • TOMS API integration for state testing
  • TOMS CAASPP and ELPAC exports for state testing
  • Student Information System data integration with AERIES included.
  • Student Information System data integration with any SIS is possible!
  • SIRAS is already integrated with districts using Aeries, OASIS, Powerschool, Q, School Pathways and Synergy.
  • Customizable search and list functions
  • Full data export capability

Meeting-driven Workflow

  1. The flow of data begins in the Forms Manager where the IEP/504/SST meetings are created.
  2. As individual forms are opened, the basic student information in SIRAS is pre-populated onto the form fields.
  3. The user completes the required data for each form and submits.
  4. The Meeting Held box is checked after all of the forms are complete.  At this point (and after confirming Parental Consent when necessary), any changes are applied to the main student database.
  5. The meeting is then Finalized. Finalizing the meeting locks and archives the meeting and related forms.
  6. The MIS Summary page is Reviewed and Validated.
  7. For Special Ed students, data is then Submitted to the via the API CALPADS.  Any errors remaining will be posted back to SIRAS for review.
  8. Corrections that are made to the MIS Summary page will be re-submitted by the user to the CALPADS. This process is repeated until the district has no more errors.

Technology and the evolution of SIRAS:

The original application that SIRAS is based upon was once one of the first web enabled Special Ed. software systems in existence. SIRAS is the evolution of that founding Special Ed. technology.

The SIRAS web application is built upon powerful modern frameworks and robust Internet standards. The open source foundation is platform independent and constantly updated to keep up with ever-changing requirements. SIRAS has a rich, dynamically updating user interface which allows for intuitive and fluid interactions, and a well-structured normalized SQL database which provides unified and reliable data. Visually accurate and customized IEP forms are enabled using innovative PDF to HTML conversion. Email and Forms Link integration provides parents and staff with direct access to student’s IEPs as well as providing collection of electronic signatures.

SIRAS is well-integrated in many different regards with other external systems. CALPADS API functionality enables SIRAS users to easily report everything required for Special Ed. throughout the year. Student Information System (SIS) integration is available via the AERIES API or file-based exchange for any SIS vendor, bringing demographics data and new records automatically into SIRAS. Automated data exports are available, providing other systems with current Special Ed data.
