How to make a student record Active in SIRAS

How to make record Active:

Simply click on the active status indicator in the upper right hand corner and the student record can literally be made Active in SIRAS.

But the bigger question is, should they be active yet?

  1. Is the student Enrolled?
  2. Is the student Eligible?
  3. Is the student Participating?

If any of those 3 are not true, the record should -not- have active status = Active.

If all those 3 are true, the record should have active status = Active

If any of the above happen after the student arrives, and the student stops participating, we need to make the record inactive in SIRAS. For districts with SIS integration, that current record must sit at the exited district until the next day so the SIS integration picks up the exit.

If student leaves the district or stops participating, the active status needs to be updated to reflect this by the active status changing to Inactive.

Not all inactive reasons are reportable.

When changing the active status from pending to active in SIRAS we are either:

  • 1 Updating SIRAS to reflect what is already in CALPADS.

Or

  • 2 We are preparing SIRAS to send this new status to CALPADS to update CALPADS.
