Out of State Fields

SELPA From

If the student is returning from out of state to CA.

We can fill in SELPA_FROM 'out of state' and indicate the specific state.

CA Entry Date

If the student already has a special ed. initial entry start date from a United States based IEP evaluation as seen in CALPADS, then leave this date field blank.

Based on what we see in CALPADS, if a special education initial entry start date exists,  then we don't need to fill this date out.

We make sure this date is accurately reflected on the MIS page once the plan adoption is transaction is ready to be made.

We just update district enrollment date and leave CA entry blank.

Just because there is no record of it in SIRAS doesn't mean there is not one in CALPADS.
Look for it first.

If after looking we can not find any record of a CA based IEP, we can use the special ed. initial entry start date from the out of state IEP as the CA Entry Date.

Summary

  • Student already has special ed. initial entry start date, leave blank.
  • Student has an out of state IEP being introduced into CA, we use the CA Entry date field. As established by district enrollment date.
