Parent Response

Description

Impact on SIRAS

Impact on CALPADS

General SELPA Guidance and Reminders

Awaiting Consent

The IEP meeting has been held. All required IEP documents have been completed. Parents did not indicate any disagreement during the meeting. Consent and/or Participation forms have been sent out to parents. District is awaiting consent and signatures.

All pending form data is held in que (Review Pending Changes tab), and student goals are not updated. This meeting will not be finalized until all Links/Requests (for consent and signature) have been completed and Parent Response is changed to reflect the appropriate choice (i.e., accepts the plan, does not accept the plan, etc.).

No impact. This will not prevent staff from Archiving a MEET record to report the meeting in lieu of sending an agreed to PLAN. If agreement is obtained.

This meeting cannot be finalized with this status. If the meeting happened, staff can report MEET Only if Census day is near.

Accepts the Plan (Signed Consent)

Parent signs the Consent form that they agree to all parts of the IEP.

All pending form data is updated on the MIS Summary page, and student goals are updated. This meeting can be finalized.

SWDS, MEET and/or  Plan as as appropriate will be reported to CALPADS.

Verify the data on the MIS Summary page is as expected.

Does Not Accept the Plan or Stay Put

Parent signs the Consent form indicating that they do not agree to all parts of the IEP.

IEP dates are updated on the MIS Summary page, all other pending form data is held in que (Review Pending Changes tab), and student goals are not updated. This meeting can be finalized.

Note: If parents come to an agreement at a later time, the user changes the Parent Response to Accepts the Plan. This can be done before or after the IEP meeting has been finalized.

If this was a cardinal meeting of Initial, Plan Review or Reevaluation, the MEET or appropraite MEET/SWDS would be reported to CALPADS..

Changes to the Plan will not be updated on the MIS Summary page. Meeting information is updated as usual.

Partial Consent (Agree to Goals)

Parents agree to all IEP goals, but parents do not agree with the other parts of the IEP (i.e., services, placement).

IEP dates are updated on the MIS Summary page, all other pending form data is held in que (Review Pending Changes tab). A Siras Admin User is required to unlock the MIS Summary page and manually update the items that were consented to, student goals are updated. This meeting can be finalized.

Note: If the parent later consents to the entire IEP, the user changes the Parent Response to Accepts the Plan. This can be done before or after the IEP meeting has been finalized.

IEP team accept appropriate 'pending changes' in IEP manager to update what was agreed to.

Staff need to verify MIS page accurately reflects last agreed to Plan with any updates from current IEP as appropriate.

Changes made by later approval can be reported by manually fixing MIS Summary page and the meeting archive. Then change report status of meeting archive back to Pending to resend new data to CALPADS.

This assumes the plan effective date has not changed.

If it has the old plan effective date was already sent to CALPADS in PLAN and SERV records, those must be removed prior to sending new plan effective date.

Partial Consent

Parents partially agree to goals, services, and/or placement.

IEP dates are updated on the MIS Summary page, all other pending form data is held in que (Review Pending Changes tab). A Siras Admin User is required to unlock the MIS Summary page and manually update the items that were consented to, student goals are not updated. This meeting can be finalized.

Note:

If the parent later consents to the entire IEP, the user changes the Parent Response to Accepts the Plan. This can be done before or after the IEP meeting has been finalized.

IEP team accept appropriate 'pending changes' in IEP manager to update what was agreed to.

Staff need to verify MIS page accurately reflects last agreed to Plan with any updates from current IEP as appropriate.

SPED staff should contact their special education administrator/specialist when a parent provides partial consent to the IEP.

Parent Contacted, No Response

Parent has been contacted multiple times with either no response or the parent has failed to respond to the signature link in a timely manner (after multiple IEP meetings held and follow-up correspondence). Parent has not signed the Consent form that they agree to the IEP, nor did they sign that they disagree.

IEP dates are updated on the MIS Summary page, all other pending form data is held in que (Review Pending Changes tab), and student goals are not updated. This meeting can be finalized. If parents come to an agreement, the user changes the Parent Response to Accepts the Plan. This can be done before or after the IEP meeting has been finalized.

No proposed Plan or Services were agreed to so no PLAN or SERV reccords would be reported.
If this was a Plan Review or Triennial, that MEET record would get reported.

SPED staff should contact their special education administrator/specialist when a parent does not respond to the IEP.

SPED staff must follow-up with parents on a weekly or biweekly basis.
