In this article we are focusing on initial evaluations where the student was found eligible and will start to participate.
(page under construction)
Initial IEPs have several outcomes depending upon the timing of key events in relation to the next report date.
By report date we mean either Census (un-duplicated) reporting day of FALL 1 (first wed. of Oct.) reporting date.
Three key reporting data points:
- Date assessment plan received, aka Parental Consent date. (Not to be confused with collection of parental consent for a triennial re-evaluation.)
- Meeting date
- Upcoming reporting date (Fall 1)
Depending upon the timing of these events will determine how we report these events.
There are 3 possible scenarios.
- Parental consent, meeting date and participation start date are all prior to next census date.
- Parental consent, meeting date are before next census date but plan effective is after census date.
- Parental consent is before Census date but meeting will be after.
Scenario 1
Scenario 2
How to finalize meetings when meeting date is before census but plan effective is after
Scenario 3
With a future plan effective date, Siras will default to this option to finalize as.
This is the correct option to represent the status of this student at the close of this current academic year.
When the meeting is closed the Siras record will have active status set to Inactive.
Which correctly reflects that the student is not currently participating. Even though eligible.

Then in the fall, when these students are returning, use the predefined query of Recent Initials: Eligible, not participating to find them
Find the student records of students who we know returned and did start participating after all.
Make the record active, and archive the MIS Page as of the district enrollment date when the student starts to participate.
In the example below we would not be able to archive that record until that 9/2/24 date is today or in the past.
